Jersey Shore Restaurant Week

After being cancelled last Fall due to the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy, Jersey Shore Restaurant Week returns today with more than 60 restaurants participating. Patrons can enjoy 3-course prix-fixe dinners (for $20 and $30) at a wide variety of eateries up and down the Shore. The Asbury Park Press bills it as “an event that will showcase a rejuvenated culinary scene along a rebuilt coastline.”

In addition to restaurant specials, JSRW has its own food events, including a bacon tasting called “Eat. Drink. Indulge. Bacon.” Guests will be able to try gourmet bacon dishes and “bacon-inspired” cocktails created by baconeer chef, Jimmy Vena.

Restaurant Weeks like the one in Jersey Shore have been popping up across the country. Owners use them to showcase their restaurants and attract new business during off-seasons, while diners get the chance to try a variety of cuisines at affordable fixed prices. Local food communities benefit from new connections being formed between owners, diners and area food writers.
