Guide to Ohio rib festivals — Memorial Day through June

Memorial Day weekend marks the start of grilling season. BringMeThat — an online food delivery service that launched in Ohio (our CEO hails from Strongsville) — has prepared a guide to help you find the tastiest and the closest cook-offs. Enjoy!

Marc’s Rib Cook-Off | Cleveland, OH | May 24-27

This four-day rib festival represents something like the launch of the summer grilling season. Billed as “Northeast Ohio’s biggest and most popular backyard BBQ,” it will center around an amateur grilling competition to determine who can cook up the best ribs and the best sauce. Featuring musical performances by Rick Springfield, Buddy Guy and Bret Michaels. Admission $5.

Berea’s National Rib Cook-Off | Berea, OH | May 24-27

Come out on Memorial Day weekend to join in the 15th annual Berea’s National Rib Cook-Off. Held at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, the festival includes an 80s night, a country music night, a bike night and a Miss Berea competition. There are activities for all ages (and kids get in free).

From Berea’s FAQ:
Q: What kind of food is available?
A: Ribs, ribs, and more ribs, which you can wash down with a slab of ribs. For those who desire something other than ribs, we have a wide range of alternative fare available, from hot dogs to funnel cakes, french fries, strawberry crepes, pierogies, cotton candy and other traditional festival fare.

Meigs County Gold Wings & Ribs Fest | Pomeroy, OH | June 7-8

Come celebrate motorcycles and ribs at this two-day festival in Pomeroy — located in southeast Ohio. There will be contests for Ohio’s Best Ribs and Ohio’s Best Wings. It’s not just about ribs, though. There will be motorcycle shows and Art in the Park, and for those who’d prefer not to eat ribs, the festival menu also includes roast beef and Italian sausage.

Bedford Rotary Rib Fest | Bedford, OH | May 31 – June 2

There will be plenty of delicious ribs being cooked at the Bedford Rotary Rib Fest and there will be live entertainment, but the centerpiece of this event is the Vintage Bike Show held on June 1. It’s one of only three such shows in the Midwest. Come to see the best vintage bikes in more than nine different categories.

* It’s not specifically about ribs, but we also recommend checking out the Taste of Cincinnati festival, happening May 25-27 (Memorial Day weekend).
